Greeting

Hello, everyone. I am Yojiro Koyama.

At the Montanini Opera Laboratory, we work to share the original music theatre work Kojo no Tsuki.

There is a story behind this.

In 2000 I returned from my studies in Italy, and began my work in my hometown, Nagoya.

Through Mr. Sawataki, representative of the Nagoya Performers Society, whom I met there, I came to originate the role of Rentarō Taki.

I felt it a great honor, and I wanted to keep performing this work I had come to love, for as long as I could.

As my students continued to grow, I began to conduct, and I was able to found an opera laboratory.

Since my student days, I had wondered whether Japan had an opera that people could feel close to.

That is why I feel we should spread this Kojo no Tsuki.

From a bright first half, it turns suddenly toward tragedy. A work anyone can understand and enjoy.

I hope we can take this production across Japan.
